With a bold design, Hippeas, an organic snacking brand, had a seriously successful launch, with listings in 16,000 UK and US stores.

A new snack, Hippeas needed to be bold and brave in order to become a big brand and gain penetration into the highly competitive and saturated market.

In Scotland, IRN-BRU is a mature brand with high penetration, but in an increasingly competitive grocery environment, opportunities for growth are few. With demanding targets to boost website traffic by 10% and grow sales by 2%, a new design campaign was proposed leveraging the brand’s packaging to get people talking.

Anonymous on the shelf and with a low consumer profile, Billington’s unrefined brown sugar was an exceptional product being undercut by established white sugar brands extending into the sector.

Billington’s decided to invest in design with the intention of bringing the brand to life, reflecting the exciting experience customers have baking a cake. The stripped back design highlights the naturalness of the product and the eye-catching packaging has dramatically increased awareness.

With Christmas approaching, luxury perfumers Penhaligon’s had the ambition to boost sales on a limited budget. A packaging redesign was agreed, with the additional aim to produce the new item at parity cost and build affinity for the brand. The refreshed look centred on the client’s Victorian provenance and, specifically, music boxes from the era which were interpreted as birdcages holding mechanical songbirds. Two items were produced – mini tins to hold the perfume and a ‘hero’ tin which allowed the consumer to hand select its contents for greater buying theatre.

In 2010, Ocado began offering 600 own-brand grocery lines. After a satisfactory first year, they set a target for 75% of baskets to contain own-brand. Ocado wanted to establish itself as a credible grocer and drive customer affinity.

JKR were asked to create a fresh look to help Swan defend its market share through a redesign of its product packaging. The aim was to get Swan’s roll-your-own cigarette papers noticed on fixtures by creating a more engaging and contemporary design.
