Wyevale Garden Centres’ restaurants were underperforming and the challenge was to design three new complimentary but distinct Food & Beverage concepts, which could be easily rolled out across the Wyevale estate. Taking direct inspiration from the garden, the new concepts: Garden Kitchen Restaurant, Coffee Ground and Botanic Kitchen have been united under a new brand identity, improved counter layout and environment refresh directly helping profits grow.
The first Botanic Kitchen outperformed the previous year's sales by 29% and transactions are also up for refurbished Garden Kitchen Restaurants by 26%. Coffee Ground cafes, which can be built in half the time and half the cost, compared with an average 40 seat high street coffee shop, are outperforming comparative high street cafes’ sales by 33%. The concept also has a proven garden centre halo effect of 20%. Mystery shopper scores are between 91% and 96% across the refurbished sites and staff morale has soared.
