Winners 2014/Packaging. Branded Drink Silver

Project: Two Cocks Brewery

Client: Two Cocks Brewery

Design: Brandhouse

Michael Butcher and Phil Palmer started the Two Cocks Brewery at the end of 2011, and wanted to raise awareness of the brand among traders and consumers. The business objectives were to generate bottle sales of at least 20 cases per month and to minimise labelling costs. The Two Cocks Brewery wanted to limit production to enable them to retain 100% autonomy and remain a micro-brewery.

Brandhouse saw the solution should be focussed on visually communicating the brand name meaning, designing a label that could be printed by an office printer, and encouraging bottle purchase through standout images. They decided on a free feather to be distributed with every bottle, which became its unique selling point.

The Two Cocks Brewery are now selling 58 cases per month – more than doubling their original targets. The brand’s bottles are now available in eight retailers, including Budgens and eight bars and restaurants. And they still retain 100% ownership of their company.
